On 7/25/2005 I was admitted to Saint John's Mercy Medical Center for having pancytopenia, or very low blood counts. Three days later I was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. This blog is photographic record of my 10 day hospital stay. If you are looking for my aplastic anemia blog, please go to aplasticanemia.brendangates.com.

My oncologist/hematologist was a Mizzou fan. Her reaction to my KU shirt was to surgically remove my legs just before this photo was taken.
It is important for me to note that I am also a Mizzou fan, what with being an alumnus of the school. I am wearing a Kansas shirt because my brother went there (and played water polo for KU).
