On 7/25/2005 I was admitted to Saint John's Mercy Medical Center for having pancytopenia, or very low blood counts. Three days later I was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. Any time I left my room on "official" business (for x-rays, etc), I did so in a wheelchair. The mask was was a precaution because I was neutropenic for the majority of my hospital stay.
